About JB

The name Jason means healer. I suppose that if I did not have autism I would be more likely to pursue a career in medicine than anything else.

Healing is something that I wonder about a lot. I wonder what it would be like to speak for myself. I wonder how it would feel to touch a piece of sand and not be in pain. I think if I were normal I would live on a beach and soak myself in sun while lying in the sand.

I wonder how it would be to listen to raindrops on the roof and not be blown away by the terrible noise.

Autism is like living on another planet where every sound is magnified by a thousand and every touch becomes like a giant sword searing through your flesh. I tell you this because I do not want pity, but I want your respect and understanding.

My healing could come immediately if God chooses, but if He does not, than it must come through my own ability to cope with this handicap.

Coping means not going bananas when a car drives by and the tires rumble so loud that it gives you a headache. It means not screeching in pain when you touch a cold railing. It becomes a constant challenge.

Coping becomes easier for me when I spend more time in prayer. My faith in God’s ability to use me in spite of my autism is what drives me to succeed.

I am convinced that my autism is not a curse. At times it can be a blessing because it makes me totally dependent on God to succeed.

My goal is to go to college to study to become a pastor. Perhaps healing people spiritually can be more important than healing them physically.

JB accepted Christ when he was watching Billy Graham on TV.

Damascus Road

The Damascus Road Ministry was started when JB finished high school. He was not given enough medicaid money to allow him to be placed in a day program because he needed to have a one on one assistant at all times. He began helping to write a weekly newsletter called HOME TOUCH. It is presently being sent monthly to well over a hundred homes. It is geared to reaching the home bound but it has been loved by home schoolers and even in prisons. We have also sent free Bibles to Nigeria and Japan.

If you're happy, tell your face.
